Information
Microsoft Office, like with any program, isn’t perfect and so sometimes things can go wrong in the programs files that cause it to not function properly or crash. Very often, this can be fixed by performing an Office quick repair.
Pre-Requisite: Ensure all office programs are closed before continuing, you also need administrator rights over your PC to perform the repair.
Solution
- Right Click start
- left click Apps and Features
- Locate your Microsoft Office installation, left click it and select the Modify button.
- After you click on Modify you will be warned by a UAC prompt, asking for permission to make changes to your computer. Click Yes
If you are prompted with a username and password box, you do not have administrator permission and need to contact your administrator (or WYSIWYG) - On the next screen select the Quick repair radio button and then click on the Repair button at the bottom of the window. This will then repair office and inform you when it has been completed. You shouldn’t use any office programs during this repair. Once the repair is complete, you may start using office again. The whole process should be done within a few minutes.
Tips
You can also perform an online repair which essentially re-installs Office. This takes longer and uses your Internet connection to download and replace files.
